224. Richard ThelwallAnnamaboe, 24 April 1681

This morning is come the bad news of the 15 hand canoe being lost off Amessa [at] the oyster shell banke at sea; and I doe not heere of any white men saved, the canoe broken all in peeces and but few blackes saved. I have sent to Amessa and per next shall know further. As to the gitting of anything there is noe hopes, for when our sloope run ashore theire their was moneys spent but the blackes would restore nothing againe. I pray God the white men be alive.
