pg xiiiREFERENCES, ABBREVIATIONS, AND SYMBOLS

In this and all other volumes of this edition, the edited text will be presented with its copy-text signatures, pagination, or foliation inserted at the appropriate points in the outer margins of the edited text. These signatures, pagination, or foliation are the key to the edition's internal system of reference. They will be used to refer to all Bacon works cited in the apparatus of all volumes. In the case of works as yet not published in OFB, this method of reference is supplemented by parenthetical references to the corresponding pages in SEH. This will make it easier (pending completion of the new edition) for readers to track down references to other Bacon works.
