Oxford University Press are delighted to announce that Oxford Scholarly Editions Online (OSEO) has reached its 10th anniversary! A cornerstone of humanities scholarship across the world, OSEO’s list of scholarly editions is unparalleled in breadth and quality.
Launching in September 2012, OSEO contained more than 170 scholarly editions of material written between 1485 and 1660, and containing nearly 12,000 different works from plays to poetry to letters, the equivalent of 82,000 print pages.
Move forward ten years, and OSEO now has over 1,700 editions available online which is the equivalent of more than 800,000 print pages. Material written has expanded to between 472BC and 1931, and OSEO now includes Roman and Greek authors, including all of Shakespeare’s plays, the writings of Aristotle, Austen, Plato, Ovid, and Virgil, the poetry of John Donne, and works by Adam Smith and Jeremy Bentham. These editions contain over 200,000 different works including more than 3,800 plays, over 36,000 poems.
Looking forward, the collection of editions on OSEO will expand further to encompass Greek poetry, including the works of Homer, and literature of the early twentieth century, such as the writings of James Joyce. Meanwhile, OSEO will continue to be updated with the latest scholarship across all periods.
