The display
There are three panels.
· The Main Text is in the centre.
· The Navigation panel is on the left.
· The Notes are on the right. (Not all works contain notes.)
The header is reduced in height while in reading view and contains essential navigation and tools only.
The display of the Classics texts
There are four panels.
· The Main Text is in the centre.
· The Navigation panel is on the left.
· The Notes are on the right.
· The Extras panel appears as the last one on the right. It contains links to the Oxford Latin Dictionary or to secondary scholarship in the monographs on Oxford Scholarship Online.
Main Text
If the link to the work was the result of a search, matching terms are highlighted.
Moving around
Use the scroll bar to move up and down the page.
To move to the next or previous section in the book, use the or
buttons.
Viewing notes
A in the margin indicates that there is a corresponding editor’s note. A
indicates a corresponding note in the critical apparatus. Click the appropriate symbol to highlight the matching note in the Notes panel. If necessary, the notes pane will also so that the relevant note is visible on screen.
Notes

Click on any note symbol ( or
), to highlight the matching line of text in the Main Text panel. If necessary, the main text pane will also scroll so that the relevant line is visible on screen.
Displaying Editor’s Notes and/or Critical Apparatus
By default both Editor’s Notes and Critical Apparatus are displayed. To remove one or both, click .
Uncheck the option(s) as appropriate, and click to close.
Parallel Texts
To read two texts on one screen click on 'Read with' icon and run a search for a title you would like to read as a parallel text. Some Classics titles have the 'Read with' option already populated with some suggestions, mainly other editions of the same text or its translations, so in this case you can select the suggested title or choose your own one by running a search.
Locking and closing panels
To keep panels scrolling together, e.g. when you read a main text and its notes or two parallel texts, click on the icon . You can also close slide the panels to fit the content and shut down the ones you don't need.
Navigation

There are three tabs to the navigation panel:
displays the current work
This may contain more than one section or subwork. Click on a heading to display its content in the Main Text panel. Expand and collapse headings using the [+] and [-] buttons as appropriate.
displays the contents of the current edition

To toggle between viewing and hiding a section’s contents click the [+]/[-] button.
To open a section and display it in the Main Text panel, click on it.
offers various search options
These are described below.
Adjusting the panels

To remove the Main Text or Notes panels, uncheck the appropriate option.
To reset the panels to the default, click Reset Panels.
Searching within a work/edition

To search for a term within the current work or edition:
1. Make sure Work or Edition is selected, as appropriate.
2. Type or paste the term you want to find in the Search box.
2. Click or press Enter.
3. The matching results are listed in the Results list.
4. Open any item in the usual way.
Moving to a specific page
To move directly to a particular page, type it into the box and click .
It is displayed in the Main Text panel.
Downloading a specific page as a pdf of the print edition
Type the page you want into the Page box
and click .
The pdf is displayed in your browser.
Find location in text
To find a specific location in the current work:
1. Type or paste the location you want to find in the Location box (e.g. 3.1). (The Author and/or Work title are filled in for you.)
3. Click or press Enter.
4. The results of your search are displayed in the Results list.
Open this text in OSEO
To follow up on a cross-reference, select the reference then choose 'Open this text in OSEO' from the pop-up menu and this will take you straight to the right passage.
Copy and cite tool
To cite, select a word or a phrase from the Main Text and choose 'Copy and cite' option from the pop up menu.
This will provide you with comprehensive citation information, including a unique URL for that exact line.
Look up a word in the Oxford Latin Dictionary
To check a definition of a word, double click on it to select it, and a menu will pop up. Choose the option 'Look up a word in the Oxford Latin Dictionary'. You will be shown possible definitions in the dictionary widget.
Outputting information
Work summary
To display the URL to the Work page, with details of the work, edition, and online publication date, click . You can then copy and paste this into your work.
Download a pdf
To download a pdf of the current section (scene, poem, etc.), click . It is displayed in your default pdf reader.
Printing
To print the current section, click . A printable version is displayed in your browser which can then be printed or saved.
Saving
To save the current section, click , and follow the instructions given.
Making a citation
Click to display a page containing a citation to the current section. You can choose from the formats: MLA, APA, and Chicago. The citations can be cut and pasted directly into your work.
Alternatively you may export citations to personal citation management programs in the following formats: EndNote, ProCite, ReferenceManager, RefWorks, BibTex, and Zotero.
Sending an email link
To send an email link of the current section, click . Fill in the details as appropriate. The email will contain a link to the current section only, which will be valid for the next two weeks.
Social bookmarking
To share a link to the current Work page on a social bookmarking site (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Googlemail, etc.), click and choose one of the options.
