Main Text

  • 1A feigned friend by proof I find
  • 2       To be a greater foe
  • 3Than he that with a spiteful mind
  • 4       Doth seek my overthrow;
  • 5For of the one I can beware,
  • 6With craft the other breeds my care.
  • 7Such men are like the hidden rocks
  • 8       Which in the seas do lie,
  • 9Against the which each ship that knocks
  • 10       Is drowned suddenly.
  • 11No greater fraud, nor more unjust,
  • 12Than false deceit hid under trust.
