To WILLIAM JERDAN, [?21 JANUARY 1837]

MS Berg Collection. Date: presumably the Saturday after 19 Jan, when he was working on Jerdan's paper.

Furnivals Inn | Saturday Morning

My Dear Sir

I inclose you a proof of "John Richardson"5 which you will perhaps have the goodness to revise and return to me directly.

I have been compelled by great press of matter to cut it a little here and there, but I hope you will not think the effect of the paper impaired thereby.

pg 226I have been obliged to perform the same kind office to my own articles, and was last month at the very greatest disadvantage.

  •                                        Believe me
  •                                             Dear Sir
  •                                                   Faithfully Yours
  • W. Jerdan Esqre.                                    Charles Dickens
